FORMAT:

All players will participate in an 18-hole stroke-play qualifying round.  Amongst the 5 sectional qualifying sites, a total of 84 players (including exempt players) will advance to the 28th California Senior Amateur Championship at Wilshire CC, in Los Angeles, CA, Monday-Wednesday, November 11-13, 2019.  The final number of qualifying spots at each site will be available from the Committee on the day of play. 

 

REGISTRATION:

There will be no formal registration at this event. Players must check in with the Golf Shop if they wish to rent a golf cart. 

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the tournament. Starting times will range from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 10:00 a.m.

 

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

   

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Practice rounds can be booked up to 7 days in advance and will only be available the day prior on October 6 for a discounted rate of $55. Contact the El Camino Golf Shop at (760) 757-2100 to book a practice round.

 

TEES AND YARDAGES:   

Play will be from the BLUE tee markers but a mixed yardage will be used for the qualifier Hole by hole yardage information is located on the event portal.

Course Rating: 72.0 / Slope: 131 / approximately 6,567 yards. 

 

DRIVING RANGE:

The Carlsbad Golf Center will be available for players to hit range balls. To obtain range balls, there will be machine with the bucket options of $7 medium, $12 large and $16 jumbo.

 

FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:

The snack bar and restaurant will be open from 6 a.m. until the end of the day. Cash, major credit cards, other than AMEX, and reciprocal charge will be accepted.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

  • The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern play;

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:

Carts are optional at the player’s expense ($15 per player). There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates). Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk. Pull carts and push carts are allowed.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.

 

DRESS CODE:

Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times. 

 

CANCELLATIONS:

To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of for any California Amateur Championships-administered competition a player must notify the SCGA Championships and Golf Operations Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here. If a player needs to withdraw on the morning of the event, notify the SCGA staff person through the golf shop staff at the host venue. Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions. Requests for refunds prior to the entry closing date will be honored less a $10 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and 48 hours prior to the event will be honored less 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
